Pupils continued to raise funds for their allocated orphans. All forms are encouraged to contribute £360 towards their orphan. A whole school assembly was held to launch the Orphan Sponsorship Programme. Shura Ambassadors delivered the assembly alongside the Spirituality Co Ordinator’s.

In addition, successful fundraising events were held. Students displayed their creative flairs and demonstrated great skills with handmade bookmarks, iced teas and coffees, chocolate fountains, cakes and bakes.

This term we also launched an emergency appeal for the devastations in Pakistan. Due to the nature of this appeal, money was collected only for four weeks. We worked alongside Islamic Relief an international aid relief and development organization, who are located in the United Kingdom, to aid the flooding in Pakistan. The total amount raised was £4500.

On the 30th of September we held a coffee morning for parents and pupils to raise money for the cancer patients and their families. This was a great success. The girls got involved and brought in many different cakes and bakes. The total amount raised for Macmillan was £821.92 Alhmadulillah.

Food Bank Donations

A few of our girls went to the Preston community food bank to assist the volunteers in packing food etc for the food bank. As a school we also collected items to be donated to the food bank.

PMGHS fundraising 2021-2022

Through the mercy of our lord, we lead secure privileged lives here in Britain, and so we always want to keep the less fortunate in our thoughts and prayers. “Blessed is the wealth of a Muslim from which he gives to the poor, the orphan and the wayfarer” (Muslim).

Sri Lankan Orphan Sponsorship Programme

Myself and the caretaker of an orphan will be in Paradise like this,” and he held his two fingers together (Hadeeth, Sahih Bukhari).

All children are entitled to basic rights relating to health, education, nutrition and protection. Yet each year, millions are subjected to abuse and even more are orphaned due to war, famine, HIV/Aids, poverty and natural disasters. We as PMGHS want to recognise and stretch out our hands for our brothers and sisters.

We have again launched our fundraising commitment for the Sri Lankan Orphans for the sixth year running, with each form supporting a named orphan. We now have a total of 18 orphans that we sponsor Alhamd…, and the pupils’ donations have made a huge difference.

This year the girls were encouraged to raise money for the orphan sponsorship programme through different initiatives E.g. Cake sales and selling bookmarks. Alhamdulillah, through Allah’s mercy this was a huge success.
