3rd place: Forging Silver into Stars – Brigid Kemmerer

4th place: Win, Lose, Kill, Die – Cynthia Murphy

5th place: The Hawthorne LegacyJennifer Lynn Barnes

6th place: The Society for Soulless Girls – Laura Steven

In a few weeks, the ten titles that make it onto the shortlist will be announced. The Book Club members will then be tasked with reading as many of these as possible before placing their votes for which book should be Lancashire Book of the Year 2023!

The sixteen pupils taking part in the Lancashire Book of the Year event as student judges, met this week to discuss their opinions on the eleven books currently on the shortlist. They also recognised the books that have been read less frequently, compared to the others, and talked about why this might be. Taking this into account, as well as the thoughts of the other student judges, each pupil decided on two or three more titles that they wish to read before they are required to make their final votes in the coming couple of months.
