As part of our ongoing commitment to enriching our pupils’ vocabulary, we have launched a whole school initiative ‘Word of the Week’, in which pupils will be introduced to Tier 2 vocabulary during form time each Tuesday morning. For the rest of the academic year, we will practise using the word through retrieval practice and support pupils to absorb the words into their daily vocabulary.

Research shows that a rich vocabulary not only empowers individuals but also enables them to participate confidently and meaningfully in the world around them. By equipping our pupils with a broader vocabulary, we are giving them the tools to thrive, ultimately helping them succeed in the world around them.
