Wider Reading: Physical Education

Wider Reading: Physical Education

The Physical Education staff, at Preston Muslim Girls’ High School, provide opportunities to foster a love of learning through reading during PE lessons. The PE staff are role models who build meaningful relationships with all pupils through incorporating reading in PE with skills books, educational material and biographies of influential sports role models. Reading is geared towards the physical activity of the term to encourage creativity through movement and social interaction.

Blended learning takes place with reading about movements and progressive skills, which can then be practised to improve performance and help with progression. Pupils are taught how to give effective feedback through analysing performance, writing it on their analysis sheets and then reading out the feedback to their peers.

Pupils are all expected to read whilst they are waiting for their turn to get changed into their PE kit. Reading will be sports related and focus on skills or rules of the game. You will find examples below of what our pupils read in their PE lessons:

Alex Ferguson ‘Leading’

Jurgen Klopp: the biography
