Reading is an integral part of the Music curriculum. It gives our pupils access to a wide range of knowledge and information that they can then apply to performance, composition and the appraising of works. It gives pupils the knowledge of ‘what has gone before’ so that they can understand and appreciate how music as evolved and
developed over the centuries.
It allows pupils to consolidate learning both in and outside of school. Staff in the department regularly
read to pupils in lesson and pupils are encouraged to read both independently and in small groups.
