Art and Design involves the pupils exploring and researching the work of painters, crafts people, photographers, and contemporary artists. Many of these resources offer exciting opportunities to our pupils as they enrich and enhance the study of Art and Design. They can be used to stimulate creative approaches to design and encourage holistic thinking, enterprise skills, observational and analytical skills and information and digital literacy.
At key stage 3 we encourage pupils to read information about key artists’ work and art movements from sources such as Art websites, newspapers, magazines, and Art History books, to aid and guide their practical & creative work.
Pupils at GCSE are set tasks throughout the year to read information from sources on artists, art movements, contextual historical links and supporting materials that give validity to their chosen journey. Recommendations are given to use Art websites, newspapers, magazines, and Art History books to gather research on and improve understanding of their art journey.
