Reading is an essential part of success in Business. Being able to read, understand and analyse an article, case study or report is a key aspect of our curriculum.
We encourage pupils to read in a variety of ways. Many lessons will include reading at some point – both aloud and reading independently in silence. We read from different types of documents, including extracts from books, business case studies, online business news articles as well as textbooks.
Pupils often take part in projects which require independent reading and research on various aspects such as, researching the journey of an entrepreneur of their choice, and finding out about the origin of new products within the past year. This is then followed up with either a written piece or presentation to the class.
To promote reading in Business further, business news articles are uploaded onto the school library website fortnightly. The news selected can be anything from local, regional, national or global business news. This provides pupils with up-to-date news from the world of business. This is then followed up by starter discussions in relation to the latest article uploaded.
