The Arabic department at Preston Muslim Girls High School provide opportunities to foster a love of learning through reading during and after Arabic lessons. Reading is densely embedded into the lessons where pupils are constantly engaged with educational material. Skills in reading and writing are developed through reding a variety of texts. Reading is geared towards fostering a better grasp of the Arabic language to encourage creativity in language building.
Outside the classroom, pupils are also encouraged to read educational and non-educational material to enhance their creativity. Arabic books are also made available in the school library for pupils to read Arabic material outside the classroom.
Pupils are expected to read during anytime that they are waiting in the classroom or they are encouraged to read the topic related content as they wait in between tasks. Additionally, pupils are encouraged to read Arabic passages audibly to correct and enhance intonation and build confidence.
