To celebrate Roald Dahl Day, our pupils immersed themselves in a wide range of exciting cross-curricular activities, all inspired by the beloved author’s imaginative stories. In Science, students were highly engaged in a hands-on experiment linked to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. They explored the fascinating process of dissolving different sweets, observing how various substances interact, and comparing the rates at which they dissolved. This allowed them to combine their love for Dahl’s whimsical world with practical scientific inquiry.
In Mathematics, pupils turned into codebreakers, using their numerical skills to crack codes related to Roald Dahl’s stories. This activity not only reinforced their mathematical knowledge but also gave them the chance to think critically and solve puzzles, much like the clever protagonists in Dahl’s books.
The English department encouraged students to channel their inner wordsmiths by inventing their own Gobblefunk words – fantastical terms inspired by Dahl’s unique use of language. This creative activity showcased their literary flair while celebrating the fun and inventiveness of Dahl’s storytelling.
Meanwhile, our Arabic students added their own special twist to the celebrations by creating marvellous mocktail recipes. These drinks, filled with a delightful and unique blend of flavours, reflected the creativity and playfulness that Roald Dahl’s stories inspire in all of us.
It was a fantastic day full of learning, fun, and creativity, as our pupils honoured the magic of Roald Dahl’s work across a variety of subjects!
