In July we will be taking a group of 27 pupils to London and during our time there we will see Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Trafalgar Square and some of the other famous sights of the capital. We are in discussion with the Prime Minister’s office about having our photograph taken outside Number 10 Downing Street! The highlight of the visit will be a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament taking us behind the scenes where the public never goes, possibly even into the chambers of the House of Lords and House of Commons where Parliament meets.
Winners of the school’s prestigious Headteacher’s Award in Year 7 – 10 this academic year have been automatically awarded a place on the visit. The other places have been allocated by “golden tickets” through a random selection process and through a letter writing competition, asking pupils to write about other achievements they have made. I have been delighted with the response to the competition and would like to thank all the pupils who made a contribution. Judging was rigorous and difficult and I would like to extend my congratulations to Mariya and Maryam. Well done to everyone who took part!
