GCSE Design and Technology – AQA exam board

Subject Information

This course will prepare students for an increasingly technological world. Students will study the wider influences on Design and Technology including historical, social, cultural, environmental and economic factors. There are practical tasks, which allow pupils to design and make a product, choosing their own material, such as wood, plastic, textiles and electronics.

Why Study Design and Technology?

Design Technology is new to PMGHS. The modern world is governed by technology. Pupils will study the design process, generating ideas, learning different drawing techniques and producing models. Pupils will experiment with different materials and look at designing products for specific audiences, such as, producing ideas to support children’s learning, generating a product used on holiday or developing a concept to support elderly members of the community.

The possibilities are endless and this course allows pupils to choose their own coursework topic and product materials. Design Technology is creative, enjoyable, varied and relevant.
