Wed 12 December 2018 5.15pm – 6pm – Deepdale Mill Building
The Parent Workshop will give parents advice and guidance about revising for exams with a particular focus on GCSE examinations. For Years 7, 8 and 9 this will focus upon Test Week which takes place in July near the end of the school year. For Years 10 and 11 this will focus upon the mock examinations that take place in January and on preparing for the real GCSE exams next summer. We know that revising for exams can be a stressful time for parents and pupils alike and this session is intended to give you practical advice. Parents recognize how important it is for their daughters to do well but sometimes don’t know how to support them.
This event will explore:
• revision strategies and revision timetables
• dealing with exam stress
• the possible impact of Ramadhan on GCSEs
• what actually happens in the examinations
Alongside the senior staff presenting this session we have also invited a former pupil to share her experience and to give practical advice to all pupils about how to revise. It would be beneficial for pupils to attend with their parents, if they are able to do so.
